  1. 21%of machines listed for sale are wheel loaders

    Egypt's second-hand market is a loader market. 10,753 of the 50,998 machines offered were wheel loaders; excavators came second at 10%, and no other class reached a tenth.

  2. 2006median model year of the machines for sale

    The typical machine on offer is close to twenty years old; wheel loaders are the oldest class (median 1997), trucks the newest (2019). By brand the spread is wider: the median CAT was built in 1992, the median XCMG in 2025.

  3. 9%of for-sale ads state a price

    91% of ads carry no price at all: the convention is «سعر تجاري», settled on the phone. Every range in this hub is built from the 713 de-duplicated Egyptian ads that did state one.

  4. EGP 680Kmedian asking price for a used wheel loader

    The middle half of loader ads sit between EGP 320K and EGP 1.15M. Age drives that spread more than brand: a 1990s CAT anchors the bottom, a late import the top.

    CAT is asked for 2.2 times as often as it is offered: 50% of branded buy and rent requests against 22% of branded listings. Demand is more brand-loyal than supply.

    Measured against what is on offer, dump trucks are the scarcest class, ahead of bulldozers and graders. Loaders are asked for constantly, but they are offered constantly too.

    Cairo and Giza together carry 47% of every post that names a place, and Dakahlia is third, ahead of Alexandria. In Matrouh, posts asking for machines outnumber posts offering them.

    It is a dealer's market: 556 accounts post at a dealer's pace of 30 or more ads, and 40% of sale posts are the same ad bumped again.

How often are the figures updated?

They are a dated snapshot, regenerated from the collector's tables and republished with the site rather than streamed live. This one was generated on Sep 30, 2026.

Can I quote these numbers?

Yes. Cite EXON and link the tab the figure came from. Everything published here is an aggregate — no post text, no names and no contact details are ever republished.

What can these numbers not tell me?

They describe what is asked, not what is settled: an asking price is not a sale price, a request is not a contract, and no machine behind an ad has been inspected. Read them as the market's opening position.

How many machines does EXON itself rent out?

357 units are in EXON's own rental register, and the rates tab publishes the day and week list rate for each class of them.

How large are the groups this is based on?

10 public Facebook groups with 1.4M combined members, the largest of them with around 300,000. One group is the primary source and contributes most of the 97,993 posts; the others were read for shorter windows and are listed above with what each contributed.

Is this the whole Egyptian equipment market?

No. It is the public, second-hand, Facebook-traded part of it: dealers and owners selling used machines, and contractors asking for them. New-machine sales through dealers, tenders and private rentals arranged by phone are not in these groups and are not counted.

Method

  • Source: public posts in 10 Egyptian heavy-equipment groups on Facebook, read through automatically rather than sampled by hand.
  • Sample: 97,993 classified posts, and 17 complete weeks in the weekly series — a week is drawn only when every one of its days was collected.
  • Refresh: the snapshot is regenerated from the collector's tables and republished when the site is rebuilt. The generation date is printed below.
  • Caveats: sellers repost the same machine, ads describe machines loosely, and a stated price is an asking price. The figures are aggregates only.
  • Classification: posts up to late August 2026 were read by one model and later posts by a newer one, which files fewer posts as spam and more as for-sale. Post counts and posting volume are unaffected; shares by post type shift slightly across that line.
